A message from our President:
Welcome to the Ocean City Policemen's Benevolent Association
Local # 61's official website. For those of you that are not familiar
with our organization, let me tell you about us.
Our PBA has two basic functions. One function that most people
are aware of is that of a philanthropic organization. Our members
are committed to serving the community of Ocean City and its
residents through charitable works and donations. Over the years,
our PBA has donated to many different events that support research
for serious medical conditions, as well as events that support those
with individual financial or medical needs.
Our PBA's annual scholarship program provides $7000.00 worth of scholarships to graduating seniors from
theOcean City High School. We also sponsor youth sports and community groups in Ocean City, Upper Township,
Sea Isle City, as well as some Atlantic County sports teams and organizations. Our PBA conducts a Christmas
program every year for our local public and parochial school systems and some needy families within the city.
We deliver gifts to the families and have Santa at the schools when the children receive their gifts just before
Christmas.
Our main fundraisers are the annual PBA letter drive, and our famous annual PBA Golf Tournament, which seems
to get more popular each year. These events allow us to continue with our charitable efforts and they are funded
by the very generous donations made by the residents of Ocean City and Upper Township, and the Ocean City
business community.
The PBA's lesser known function is that of the Labor Union. Our PBA represents the police officers who are
dedicated to the service of this Community. We are the sole and exclusive negotiating representative for the full
time Ocean City police officers. We represent the officers in contract negotiations, grievances, and in matters
pertaining to work conditions and officer safety. The Union works diligently to ensure that its members are fairly
compensated, and given the support, training and equipment needed to do their job efficiently and effectively.
The labor-related activities of the PBA are funded by the annual dues paid by our members.
The Ocean City PBA and its membership look forward to serving the community of the City of Ocean City in the
future and thank all the residents, businesses and visitors of our City, who make our activities possible through
their generous support.
Fraternally yours,
Michael Gray, President
Ocean City Local PBA #61
